A fairy tale!

Once upon a time, there was a baby princess.

She was so cute she needed a pirate to protect her!

The two of them had many people wrapped around their little fingers, and spent the day being carried around Norwood and fed icecream. The end!

Mum & Michael thought they'd help us readjust to post-holiday life and spent the weekend with us. It was great to see them... we were swamped by all the presents... went out for lunch twice... heaven!

But it also reminds me how much I miss them when they are not here.

Amira in one of her new tops Mum bought her for summer!

Gunny starts trying to earn brownie points for Fathers Day!

Final photo is last night's eclipse! We were lucky enough to have a clear night and a great view - not to mention a telescope. :)

10 DAYS OF THE GOLD COAST!!!

SUNDAY:

All of us at the airport waiting to board our plane to fly far, far away...

Amira loved watching them land and take off!

Amira introduces herself to the baby in the mirror at our room.

Zac explores his room! He had two bunks and his own Playstation 2 & TV as well.

Needless to say it was a big hit!

Then we put Amira in the washing machine!

Just kidding! She is looking out of Zac's portal from his bed.

MONDAY:

Seaworld! Here's us watching the dolphin show.

And here are the dolphins! There were 6 or 7 dolphins and the show was incredible. Most spectacular was the way they fling their trainers in the air and let them surf on their backs!

On to Shark Lagoon. Lots of sharks, stingrays, and the occasional Nemo or Dory!

We made Zac pat a starfish. "But it's spiny!!!!!"

Then it was time to check out all the rides.

Zac's favourite part of the day was this robotic UFO maching which swirled and sprayed water. Gunny said it was a Darlek but I have no idea what he's on about!

Here's Zac waiting to get splashed...

... getting splashed...

... gee that was fun!

The first time we visited the polar bears, they were curled up asleep. We came back a few hours later and one of the cubs jumped in the water right in front of us! This is Lia showing us her doggy paddle. One of the twins was still asleep on the rock - either Hudson or Nelson - they are very hard to tell apart!

She put on quite a show, playing with her toys just like a big white furry dog. She was tossing her yellow thing into the water then jumping on top of it!

Time for more rides! Zac was good value, as kids are free to enter the theme parks until they are 4 years old, and he made the minumum height requirement for a lot of the rides (but only just!!).

TUESDAY:

We checked out the beach!

Zac and Gunny made sand castles then a dragon to go with it.

That night we met up with Mud who happened to be in the area! We found a great Chinese restaurant (altho we had been looking for Mexican....!).

Mud and both grandkids!

WEDNESDAY:

Movieworld!!!!!!! Goodbye Spiderman, hellllooooo Batman!!!

We forgot to pack the camera so until we can scan our 'film' photos this is it. We all went on lots of rides, saw the Shrek 3D movie, and Amira slept through the parade at the end.

THURSDAY:

We put the kids in the "Zone for Kids" Club (otherwise known as childcare) for the morning!

Zac tests his new water squirter out on a handy target...

Luckily the target doesn't seem to mind!!!

FRIDAY:

Wet'n'Wild!!!! The new Buccaneer Bay for kids.

They loved it although it was a bit cold.

Amira went through a stage of sticking out her tongue sideways for some reason. Of course we laughed at her and now she does it all the time just to be a clown!

A handy place to store little kids!!

Amira and I raced Zac but we both lost - the water was freezing and we all got drenched!

We retired to the hotel early for a hot shower followed by cocktails/dinner! Mmm...

SATURDAY:

Bought Zac pair of goggles. Only saw him when he needed to breathe after that.

SUNDAY:

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary! We saw an excellent bird show with pelicans, kites, owls and even a wedgetailed eagle.

Here's a bald nosed Zac in front of a hairy nosed wombat.

And checking out an echidna. It seemed to be checking us out too!

There was a brilliant play area for kids where they could dig up dinosaur bones in a sandpit, climb, go through tunnels etc. It was based on a predator/prey theme and was quite interesting!

Amira narrowly misses out on being eaten.

Zac is climbing along a lizard wall and 'eating' bugs on the way.

A couple of girls chasing Zac on the flying fox.

Then we got to have a cuddle with this enormous python!

By the time we got to the kangaroos it had started to rain.

Zac hand feeding a rather large red kangaroo.

MONDAY & TUESDAY:

The rain turned into the worst weather the Gold Coast had seen in a hundred years or so!!!

We stayed at the hotel for most of it, and only ventured out for bowling and enchilladas.

A brilliant holiday! But we all missed home, especially Angel and Tayla. They were very glad to see us again!!!

Things that make you go "awwww"....

A smiling baby in a Tigger suit?

How about sister and brother having a hug?

Both kids falling asleep in the same pram seat?!

All together now: "Awwwww.....!"

Amira received a surprise package in the mail from Great Grandma and Great Grandpa!!!

Thank you! Lots of words but I'm sure she'll love it as she grows up.

Here is the famous lego tower that touched the roof. Zac tried explaining this to Nana on the phone, but we're not sure that translated very well in 3-year-old-speak.

Finally, Auntie Jacqui visited on the weekend!

Friday was filled with dramas - it started at 1am when Zac was sick and went downhill from there. Highlights included running out of hot water, followed by Amira pooing in the bath (and yes Zac was in it as well!), getting stuck in the traffic jam when a water main burst on South Road, finally getting the to the airport on time with 2 clean kids only to have Amira pour coffee on not only herself but Jacqui, her jacket, and into her handbag!

Here we are teaching Zac how to count cards. Could prove useful later on - card playing runs in the family!

Jac and the "ratbag child"!! Not that you'd know by her smile.

Due to a temporary geographic relocation the blog will not be updated next week. There will, however, be a double blog the following week of fantastic proportions!
